What is the Solar Homes Program?
The Solar Homes Program is a Victorian Government initiative delivered by Solar Victoria. It is designed to make it more affordable to switch to solar and efficient electric hot water by providing rebates, and in some cases matching interest-free loans, towards eligible solar panel (PV) and hot water systems.
As a Solahart dealer serving Bayswater and surrounding areas, Solahart Eastern Ranges can help you understand which rebates you may be eligible for and take care of the installation. Solahart is also a listed approved provider under Solar Victoria's Residential Electrification Grants, which support all-electric home upgrades at scale.
Rebates Available in Victoria
The main support available to Victorian households. Amounts and funding rounds are set by Solar Victoria (and the federal program for batteries) and can change over time.
Solar Panel (PV) Rebate
A rebate of 50 per cent of the install cost, up to $1,400, towards an eligible solar panel (PV) system. You can add an optional interest-free loan of up to $1,400 to match the rebate.
Hot Water Rebate
A 50 per cent rebate on an eligible heat pump or solar hot water system, up to $1,000. Choose an eligible locally made product and you could receive up to $1,400.
Home Batteries (Federal)
The Victorian battery loan has closed. Battery support now comes through the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, applied as an upfront discount at installation.
Solar for Rentals
Rental providers can claim the solar panel (PV) rebate on up to two rental properties each financial year, with a matching interest-free loan also available.
Who is Eligible?
To claim a Solar Homes Program rebate, households generally need to meet the following criteria:
From 1 July 2026, the household income cap dropped from $210,000 to $150,000 per year. Rebate amounts, funding rounds and eligibility criteria are set by Solar Victoria and can change, so always confirm the current details on the official website before making a decision.
